What Is The Astrology Ballet?
Raquel Bell and Jared Marshall founded the Astrology Ballet in the Spring of 2018 in Austin, TX USA. Bell was then a student of world famous choreographer, Deborah Hay. Marshall was an astrologer and record producer. They started the Astrology Ballet in order to discover the way the planets affect human bodies in a practical way. A passionate curiosity started this work and the Astrology Ballet was born.
Our bodies are some of the most advanced technology in the entire universe. As a dancer it is wonderful to know how you can harness the powers of the planets and the stars to make yourself as vibrant and energetic as possible. When you understand how the Sun, Moon, and Planets effect the muscles, nerves, and skeleton, you can use this information in your own dancing and your day to day life.
Every body is totally unique and has a special expression to lend to humanity. The Astrology Ballet teaches the secrets of the universe as passed down through mystery schools and applies them in a FUN and PRACTICAL way that will be sure to expand your personal universe and bring you more joy.
Since 2018 the Astrology Ballet has produced dance films, taught workshops, and performed live multi-media dance events. A dance film premiered at the Taiwan International Convention Center in 2020. In 2021 the Astrology Ballet was awarded Artist Of The Year at the Marfa Open Arts Festival in Texas for their production of the Animal Ballet. In addition to exploring astrology in the human body, the company interacts with orignal music and new technology, often incorporating experimental film and video synthesis into the work.
For this workshop just come ready to play and bring the footwear and clothing that you like most. The music will be great and you will leave with information and movements that you will take with you for the rest of your life.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS WORKSHOP:
This dance workshop begins the moment you register with your birthdate/time/place.
We prepare your astrological chart in advance of the workshop.
When you arrive at Stomping Ground you and the other dancers will be lead in an exploration of the zodiac that starts with you and where you exist as an individual in the planetary alignment of our solar system.
From there we will explore our relationships to the zodiac, the effects of the zodiac on our bodies and timelines, the shapes we make and why, and the essence of the power of the planets on our day and on our specific life-time on this planet.
The purpose of this workshop is to illuminate how incredibly unique each one of us are in our incarnation on Earth and how we fit into the larger network that has become very relevant in this new age of Aquarius.
All levels are welcome and the workshop is open to dancers and humans who are new to dance.
*IF YOU DO NOT KNOW YOUR EXACT BIRTHDATE/TIME/PLACE:
even better... you will begin the adventure of embodying your astrological life...
ABOUT RAQUEL BELL, WORKSHOP LEADER:
Dear Dancers,
The funny part of my story is that I have never known my astrological chart and I never will. I was born at a party in the year 1980. The day and time changes depending on who I ask. Most of my life I dismissed astrology because I thought it didn't apply to me. My partner just happens to be an astrologer and he nearly went crazy when he found out I didn't know my birthday.
My work as an artist eventually led me to enroll in a 4 year Mystery School in which I studied the divine feminine and the medicine wheel. It was during this time that I began to unlock what astrology was really about. As a sensitive I could easily detect the effect the planets had on my body and my mood. At first I thought it was just me. The more I learned of Shamanism, the I Ching, Tarot, the Kabbala, Ancient Egypt, and sacred geometry, the more I realized it wasn't "just me". I was learning secrets of the universe that were hidden in plain sight, in astrology. The knowledge I have gained has unlocked so much joy for me as a person and so much inspiration for me as an artist and dancer that I can't help but share it. I hope you are willing to go on this adventure with me and step into the Astrology Ballet.
Love,
Raquel Bell (aka Rock)
